Ethiopia, China Central Banks to enhance cooperation
Addis Ababa February 23, 2023 (FBC) – The Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia, Mamo Miheretu has held a meeting with the Director General of the People’s Bank of China in Beijing, Yi Gang.
On his social media post the Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia said that the meeting has a great potential for expanded relations between the two Central Banks.
The two sides also discussed on ways to robust economic ties between Ethiopia and China.
It is to be recall that a high-level Ethiopian Delegation, led by Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance, has arrived to Beijing, China on Monday for an official visit to discuss bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Delegation which includes Mamo Miheretu, Governor of National Bank of Ethiopia, Lelise Nami, Commissioner of Ethiopian Investment Commission, Eyob Tekalegn (PhD), State Minister of Ministry of Finance and other senior government officials, will hold strategic meetings with key government ministries as well as Chinese financial institutions and investment companies.
The Delegation is participating in the Joint Economic and Trade Commission and an Ethio-Chinese investment forum organized by the Ethiopian Embassy in China.
During the Joint Economic and Trade Commission meeting held Ethiopia and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish an investment and economic cooperation working group.
According to the Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing, the working group aimed at jointly boosting bilateral economic and trade relations in strategic fields.
