Ethiopia briefs military attachés of several countries on current issues

Addis Ababa, November 19, 2020 (FBC) – Ministry of Defence is briefing military attachés of several countries on the latest developments in Ethiopia amid government’s law enforcement operation in Tigray.

Dr. Kenea Yadeta, the Defence Minister has presided over the briefing session which is involving participation of military attachés drawn from embassies of 45 countries.

The briefing is focused on justifications regarding the objectives of the law enforcement measures from the onset to its up-to-date developments.

Government’s law enforcement measures it is taking against the TPLF Junta is aimed to bring members of the renegade rebel group who attacked the Defence Force  to justice, the minister said, underlining necessity of the operation to ensure law and order.

Dr. Kenea briefed the attachés that the TPLF renegade group has long been preparing for the warfare it waged against the country and perpetrated scores of atrocities contrary to the constitutional order, adding that the operation underway aims to bring perpetrators to justice.

The TPLF Junta has been disseminating misleading propaganda as if the government is attacking civilians in an intention to internationalize the situation gain time in guise of ceasefire for further atrocity, the minister explained.

Law enforcement measures are underway in a careful manner that distinguishes peaceful civilians from criminals involved in the atrocity, it is indicated in the briefing session.
