Ethiopia begins building gold processing plant with $355m in Benishangul
Addis Ababa, April 16, 2021 (FBC) –The construction of Kumruk gold processing plant has been commenced in Benishangul Gumuz regional state.
Engineer Takele Uma, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, and Ashadli Hassen, Chief Administrator of Benishangul Gumuz regional state officially launched the project.
It will be built at a cost of $355 million. Once completed, the plant will process 7, 500kg of gold per year, according to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
The processing plant will be completed within a year and when it commences production after a year and a half, it will create employment opportunities for more than 750 people.
