Ethiopia and Rwanda seek to cooperate in empowering women
Addis Ababa, October 2, 2017 (FBC) – Ergogie Tesfaye (PhD), Ethiopia’s Minister of Women and Social Affairs, engaged in discussions with Charles Karamba, Rwanda’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, focusing on collaboration towards empowering women and achieving sustainable development goals.
During their conversation, the two exchanged best practices and identified areas for collaboration. Ergogie emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the two nations to meet their shared objectives.
She commended Rwanda’s notable achievements in gender equality and women’s empowerment, particularly highlighting the need to incorporate these experiences into Ethiopia’s development efforts.
Ambassador Karamba elaborated on Rwanda’s significant strides in promoting gender equality, noting that women occupy two-thirds of parliamentary seats and 52 percent of cabinet positions in his country.
He expressed readiness to enhance cooperative efforts with Ethiopia based on agreements already established and to initiate related activities for further progress.
