Ethio Telecom targets to increase customer base to 83M in 2024/25 FY

Addis Ababa, September 19, 2024 (FBC) – Ethio Telecom, the leading telecommunications service provider in Ethiopia, today announced that it aims to reach 83 million customers at the end of the current Ethiopian fiscal year.

In highlighting her company’s 2024/25 Business Annual Plan, Ethio telecom CEO Ms. Frehiwot Tamru underscored that the company plans to obtain a 163.7 billion birr income in the current Ethiopian financial year.

She also stated that Ethio telecom plans to increase the number of customers to 83 million in the 2024/25 fiscal year and also increase the number of Telebirr customers to 55 million.

To achieve these targets, Ethio Telecom is investing heavily in expanding its customer base, with plans to bring telecommunications services to 1,000 kebeles in the current fiscal year. Additionally, the company will construct over 1,200 new mobile stations to further enhance its network coverage and capacity, Frehiwot mentioned.

The CEO added that these initiatives are part of Ethio Telecom’s broader strategy to establish a reliable and internationally competitive digital Ethiopia and digital economy.
