Ethio Telecom officially launches 5G mobile network service in Bishoftu town

Addis Ababa, November 9, 2024 (FBC) – Ethio Telecom officially announced commercial launch of 5th generation mobile network service in Bishoftu town.

The company stated that enterprise and individual customers in Bishoftu, particularly in areas such as Kuriftu Water Park, East Industry Zone, Sunshine, Girar Meda, and Yerer Farmers’ Association, can now access the fifth-generation mobile network services.

Ethio Telecom has already rolled out cutting-edge 5G wireless network technology in the cities of Addis Ababa, Adama, Jigjiga, Dire Dawa, Harar, Bahir Dar, Hawassa, Wolaita Sodo, Hosaena and ArbaMinch cities and their environs.

The launch of 5G services will bring significant advantages to our customers by reducing network congestion and enabling seamless, high-quality communication, digital solutions, and financial services. This advanced connectivity supports online education, training, information, and entertainment services, while fostering innovation and job creation for startup developers, thus enhancing economic growth. The 5th generation technology is an advanced 5G wireless network that delivers speeds of up to 10 Gb per second (10 Gbs) and features ultra-low latency, reaching as low as 1 millisecond. The service enables the interconnection of up to 1 million devices per square kilometer, providing the capacity to meet the rapidly increasing data and internet demands of customers.
