Ethio telecom, Bahr Dar City ink Smart City Project implementation agreement
Addis Ababa, October 21, 2024 (FBC) – Bahir Dar City Administration, the capital of Amhara regional state, and Ethio telecom have signed inked an agreement for the implementation of Smart City project.
The agreement was signed by the CEO of Ethio Telecom, Ms. Frehiwot Tamru and the First Deputy Mayor of Bahir Dar City, Mr. Goshu Endalamaw.
On the occasion, the Ethio telecom CEO said, cities need to possess institutions that can deliver satisfying services to citizens pursuant to their urban status.
Ms. Frehiwot urged relevant stakeholders to work together to make the Smart City project that started in Bahir Dar city effective.
Mr. Goshu, meanwhile, announced the establishment of the Smart Bahir Dar office and its commencement of operations with the goal of making Bahir Dar one of the top tourist and investment destinations in the country.
He stressed the significance of creating a welcoming and suitable city for future generations through dedicated leadership.
Recall that Ethiopia Telecom announced commercial launch of the 5th generation mobile services in Bahir Dar City and the surrounding on Sunday, 20th October 2024.
The expansion of the new service has been achieved through the establishment of 5th generation mobile service stations across various areas of the Northwest Region of Bahr Dar city, according to the company.
