Ethio-Djibouti 16th joint ministerial meeting kicks off in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, October 25, 2022 (FBC) – The 16th Etho-Djibouti Joint Ministerial Meeting kicked off in Addis Ababa on Tuesday.
The meeting aims to strengthen the political, economic and people-to-people relations between the two countries and to jointly solve the challenges they encounter.
The Director General of African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs-Ethiopia, Ambassador Fisseha Shawul, in his opening remarks, discussed the strong relationship between Ethiopia and Djibouti.
He pointed out that the joint meeting, which concludes on October 27, will focus on strategic issues.
The head of the Djibouti delegation, Ambassador Mehedin Obsi, said that the two countries have strong ties in culture, language and other spheres.
During the meeting, experts are expected to discuss on ways to further strengthen cooperation in trade, agriculture, water and energy, transport, logistics, diplomacy, as well as scientific matters between the two countries. They are also expected to advise and propose solutions to challenges of the two countries.
In addition, the experts will also discuss regional and international issues, economic integration, law and justice, migration and political cooperation, and other issues.
According to ENA’s report, the 15th Joint Commission meeting was held in Djibouti in 2019 and it was not held since then due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
