EOTC N. American Archbishops say they conducted fruitful discussions with US officials
Addis Ababa, September 17, 2021 (FBC) – Archbishops of the North American Archdiocese of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church said they held fruitful discussions with US government officials concerning Ethiopian current situation.
According to a statement released by the archdioceses, the discussion was conducted in their working visit in Washington to State Department, US Senate and House of Representatives.
The archbishops briefed US officials with the destruction caused by the attacks perpetrated by the terrorist TPLF in Amhara and Afar regions and the humanitarian relief in Tigray region, the statement said.
They also brought to the attention of the officials the displacement close to a million of Ethiopians that need humanitarian support. Schools, hospitals, clinics, and religious sites have been target in the war.
The archbishops urged the Biden administration to adopt balanced policy on Ethiopia and work to maintain the century-old relations between the peoples of Ethiopia the United States.
They also asked the administration to strongly denounce the TPLF that have been creating havoc in Ethiopia.
US officials, on their part, emphasized for peaceful resolution of the conflict and promised to help solve the problems in Ethiopia, the statement added. //
