Envoy prioritizes Indian best experience, dev’t models for meaningful partnership
Addis Ababa, June 14, 2023 (FBC) – Demeke Atnafu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to the Republic of India met and discussed with Puneet R. Kundal, Joint Secretary of the East and Southern Africa Division.
During the meeting the Joint Secretary emphasized the ever-growing multifaceted relations of the two countries in the areas of trade and investment, education, capacity building, and among others.
He stated that India is keen to engage with Ethiopia based on mutual interests and to expand areas of engagement including cooperation in the global arena.
He also expresses his hope that the two countries overall ties will further enhance at the time of the Ambassador’s stays in India.
Furthermore, he promised to work closely with the Ambassador for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
Ambassador Demeke on his part, expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome accorded to him and reiterated that Ethiopia and India have been enjoying a long-standing relations in multifaceted areas and emphasized the importance of broadening and deepening excellent relationship that existed between the two countries based on mutual respect, shared values and strong commitment on multilateral cooperation.
He further stated that sharing Indian best experience and development models, enhancing meaningful partnership, cooperation and collaboration in sectors such as trade, investment, science, technology, education and capacity building as well as tourism and cultural ties would be his top priority.
The Ambassador also congratulated India for successfully conducting the G20 Development Ministers’ Meeting in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh state of India and commended India’s role in bringing back the Global South development agenda to the summit, which unanimously endorsed an action plan to expedite progress on SDGs as well as on sustainable development on lifestyle for the Global South.
