Envoy calls for synergy to advance sustainable agriculture in Africa

Cooperation between African nations and the Republic of Korea as well as among African nations is instrumental to advance sustainable agriculture, Ethiopian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Dessie Dalkie, said while engaged as panelist on “2023 Korea-Africa Seminar” on Agricultural Productivity roundtable discussion in Seoul, Republic of Korea

The “2023 Korea-Africa Seminar on Agricultural Productivity” aimed at exploring comprehensive ways of addressing the issue of agricultural productivity in African countries.

During the event, Ambassador Dessie Dalkie highlighted the successes of Ethiopia’s agricultural policies, including the most recent undertakings to increase wheat production, and the challenges in the sector.

The Ambassador also underscored how crucial it is to tackle challenges collectively and to share potential solutions in order to boost agricultural productivity in Africa.

He, therefore, called for cooperation between African nations and the Republic of Korea as well as among African nations to advance sustainable agriculture.

In his remark, Mr. Dong Soo Kang, Executive Director of Korean Development Institute, emphasized the significance of increasing agricultural productivity in order to enhance the livelihood of Africans and pledged to share his country’s experience, including smart farms, in that regard.

It is indicated that the other panelists including the ambassadors of Ghana, Senegal, Tanzania, and Rwanda, shared their respective nations’ experiences pertaining to agricultural productivity and potential future collaboration in the agriculture sector.
