Entry to BRICS demonstrates Ethiopia’s growing influence on multilateral platforms – PMO Press Secretary

Addis Ababa, August 26, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s accession into the BRICS economic group testifies the nation’s increasing acceptance in international multilateral diplomacy platforms, said the Head of Press Secretariat at the Office of the Prime Minister, Billene Seyoum.

She stated that Ethiopia’s success in economic and diplomatic fields is bolstering its influence.

Billene reminded that in the past, various activities have been undertaken in the field of diplomacy to defend Ethiopia’s national interests and to ensure its rightful place in multilateral fora.

The Head of Press Secretariat also pointed out that Ethiopia’s economic growth has boosted its diplomatic capacities.

Ethiopia’s accession to the emerging economic bloc will create an opportunity to defend the interests of Africa beyond itself and to grow in cooperation with member states with an emerging economy, according to Billene.

She pointed out that currently, various countries and international organizations are showing their desire to grow together by creating ties with Ethiopia.
