Entoto Park one of key factors why Ethiopia through PM Abiy named IGAD Tourism Champion – PMO
Addis Ababa, September 24, 2024 (FBC) – Entoto Park is one of the key tourist destinations why Ethiopia through Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is named as the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Tourism Champion.
Recall that last week IGAD named Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia as its new Tourism Champion for a period of 3 years. The bloc, in its statement, noted that PM Abiy Ahmed’s visionary leadership will play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable tourism across the region, driving economic growth, cultural preservation, and environmental stewardship for the benefit of all IGAD Member States.
While maintaining the existing tourist attractions, it is known that Ethiopia has developed new tourist destinations in the past few years under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s “Dine for Nation”, “Dine for Generation”, and other initiatives.
Entoto Park is one of the newly developed tourist attractions developed in the past few years. The Park is a natural recreational space located in the Entoto Mountains. Inaugurated in 2020 by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, the park offers a dense forest, scenic views, and a variety of activities, including hiking, ziplining, and horseback riding.
It also features restaurants, cafes, an art gallery, and playgrounds, making it a family-friendly destination. The park combines nature with modern amenities, promoting outdoor activities.
Chebera Elephant Paw Lodge, Wenchi-Dendi Eco Tourism Village, and Gorgora Eco Resort are also the major tourist destinations built recently under the Dine for Nation initiative in Southwest Ethiopia, Oromia, and Amhara regions, respectively. There are also several tourist destinations being developed in different parts of the country.
