ENDF says only a few peacekeepers swayed by TPLF false propaganda
Addis Ababa, April 27, 2022 (FBC) – In a statement, the Ethiopian National Defense Force reacted to information circulated as Tigrayan soldiers in peacekeeping mission in Abyei refused to return to Ethiopia.
since the beginning of the law enforcement operation that followed the unwarranted and surprise attack by the TPLF clique on the members of the Northern Command of the Ethiopian Defense Force on 4 November 2020.
ENDF recalled that the TPLF Group attacked the Northern Command of the National Army which is the guardian of the sovereignty of the nation on 4 November 2020 with an intention to derail the reform and reclaim power by disintegrating Ethiopia.
TPLF had infiltrated some Tigrigna speaking soldiers into the Northern Command of the Army before it opened the premeditated attack on the army from both within and outside of the station.
The statement indicates that ENDF decided to keep ethnic Tigrayan soldiers at their homes with their salary and ration in a bid to avoid internal clashes and succeed in counter offensive after the law enforcement operation had been started.
“However, Tigrigna Speaking soldiers who were on peacekeeping mission outside the country were allowed to proceed with their job for ENDF believed that they would not inflict a threat on the army and its missions. But, TPLF distributed false propaganda among the Tigrayan peacekeepers with support of its mercenaries outside Ethiopia and this brought ambivalence to them.”
“Tigrayan soldiers who had served their country and institution had been swayed by the false and racist propaganda disseminated by TPLF and sought asylum fearing alleged arrests if they returned home. These members of the army did not hate their institution or thier country, but swayed by evil propaganda of the TPLF,” the statement said.
“Previously, a few Tigrayan soldiers who were in Darfur for peacekeeping mission refused to come to Ethiopia due to the same reason while many of them returned to home. Some died while fighting alongside with the TPLF affiliated squad named Samri in Sudan.”
“However, our institution would like to express our sincere gratitude to Tigrigna-speaking soldiers who endured all the pressures and returned home accomplishing their peacekeeping mission,” ENDF said.
“The rights and benefits of thousands of Tigrigna-speaking soldiers who were forced to stay at their home during the survival campaign, and thousands of soldiers and civil servants returned from peacekeeping mission are protected for there are members of the institution. If the current conflict is resolved by any means, they will return to their job and serve their country.”
ENDF further called Tigrayan soldiers who are still on peacekeeping mission, and those who are in duty with the army and those who are temporarily out of work but whose salaries and benefits are protected to serve their country without bowing down to TPLF false propaganda.
