Youths proficiency in contemporary technology pivotal for all-inclusive dev’t of Ethiopia: President Sahle-Work
Addis Ababa, December 21, 2022 (FBC) – The FDRE President, Sahle-Work Zewde, said that in a country where most of the society is youth, training and empowering the young generation in technology plays pivotal role in the all-inclusive development of the country.
President Sahle-Work Zewde received Betelhem Dessie, founder and CEO of iCog-ACC to discuss about the multiple tech education interventions they have with the focus on increasing girls’ participation in STEM and their recent launch of the DigiTruck Ethiopia Project with the Ministry of Education Ethiopia and Huawei Technologies.
Digitruck Ethiopia, a project of iCog-ACC, is a moving off the grid coding and robotics classroom that will reach multiple cities across Ethiopia.
It teaches thousands of kids programming, robotics and other digital skills that will allow them to improve their critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
It has also been indicated that it is important to educate young people in the target areas about the importance of intelligence, problem solving and developing creative skills.
The Office of the President’s post on social media indicates that President Sahle-Work said that she hopes to see the success of “iCog-ACC” and Digitrak Ethiopia.
