Embassy, Task Force host fundraiser event in DC to support conflict affected areas
Addis Ababa, November 14, 2022 (FBC) – Association for Peace and Unity in Ethiopia DC Task Force in collaboration with the Ethiopian Embassy in the Washington organized a fundraising event to support citizens affected by the conflict in Ethiopia.
Ethiopian Ambassador to the USA, Seleshi Bekele, in his message, called upon the members of the diaspora living in USA to help those who were displaced from their homes due to the conflict and contribute to the efforts to rebuild the damaged institutions.
“Now is the time for us to come back to ourselves, to repair our damage, not to be a hindrance to our country, to reach out quickly, to be a comforter, and a reminder,” he said.
The Ambassador stated that other organizations like the DC task force and the entire diaspora should work harder than ever to comfort the affected citizens, reach out to the hungry, and ensure true reconciliation and lasting trust.
The members and participants of the DC Task Force who coordinated the event expressed that they will continue their support and extend the work they have started so that the diaspora can play a role in nation building by bringing more unity and closeness to the nation.
The Ethiopian community, during the event, raised more than 80,000 USD.
Ambassador Seleshi appreciated all those who donated and coordinated the event, according to the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington.
