Embassy honors champions of Ethiopia-Pakistan brotherhood in Islamabad
Addis Ababa, December 6, 2024 (FMC) – The Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad hosted a grand ceremony on Thursday to honor those who have significantly contributed to fostering friendship and collaboration between Ethiopia and Pakistan, while showcasing the true essence of Ethiopia’s economic potential, cultural heritage, and tourism.
During the “Champions of Ethiopia-Pakistan Fraternity” event, Jemal Beker, Ethiopia’s Special Envoy and Ambassador to Pakistan expressed heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed attendees for their vital role in strengthening bilateral relations. “Today is one of the happiest days of my life in Pakistan,” he remarked, emphasizing the significance of this gathering in celebrating the enduring bond between the two nations.
Ambassador Jemal underscored the influential role of media in shaping perceptions and advancing diplomacy. “In this modern era, the power of media cannot be underestimated. It serves as a crucial tool for promoting accurate information and fostering understanding between our nations. Through effective engagement and the sharing of authentic narratives, we can showcase the rich histories, cultures, and values of both Ethiopia and Pakistan.”
He also highlighted Pakistan’s vast potential, praising its stunning landscapes, diverse heritage, and economic opportunities. Addressing the challenges posed by misinformation, he pointed to global narratives that often mischaracterize Ethiopia. “Ethiopia is a land of significant progress, welcoming international leaders annually and advocating for green transformation and economic growth under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD),” he noted.
The Ambassador reflected on the strengthening bilateral ties, mentioning strategic initiatives like Pakistan’s Look Africa policy and Ethiopia’s Enter and Operate in Africa policy, designed to boost trade, cultural exchange, and cooperation, making Ethiopia a key gateway for Pakistan’s entry into Africa, a continent rich with opportunities.
Significant milestones in this partnership include the launch of Ethiopian Airlines flights from Karachi, which have garnered exceptional support from Pakistani travelers, along with exchanges in key sectors such as business, trade, health, education, and technology.
