Electoral Board discusses with political parties on issues related to State of Emergency
Addis Ababa, December 27, 2021 (FBC) – National Electoral Board of Ethiopia has discussed with political parties on complaints raised by parties concerning some issues during the State of Emergency.
An investigation team is scrutinizing through complains lodged by parties regarding alleged persecution and arrests on their leaders and members.
The meeting chaired by Chairperson of the Electoral Board, Birtukan Mideksa covered a wide range of issues including the issues that need to be rectified in the process of the investigation being carried out by the teams dispatched by the ruling party and the board itself.
On the occasion, representative of the Ruling Prosperity Party and Party’s Democratic System Building Division Coordinator, Zadig Abrha disclosed that an investigating team has been set up at executive body level to thoroughly look in to the complaints lodged by the parties.
Appreciating the board for giving due emphasis to the issue, the parties called for continued efforts to address circumstances.
