EEP posts 2.7bln Birr income from domestic power supply, OPGW rental
Addis Ababa, October 6, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has announced that it has collected more than 2.7 billion Birr from local power supply and Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) rental only in the last two months.
According to Mnilik Getahun, Sales and Customer Management Manager at EEP’s Department of Marketing and Business Development, in July and August more than 2.74 billion birr earned from local energy sales and fiber optic rental.
This income surpasses the company’s initial plan with 1.5 percent or 40.64 million birr.
Most of the income has been collected from power sales to the Ethiopian Electric Service, high energy consuming industries, Ethio-Djibouti railway.
The manager stated that more than 18 million birr was earned from fiber optics rent to Ethio Telecom, Safaricom Ethiopia, and WebSprix IT Solutions.
He added that 97 percent of the plan for those months was achieved from local sale of 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours of energy.
