EEP eyes over $300 million income from export of power
Addis Ababa, August 21, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has announced that it is planning to earn over 300 million US dollars by expanding access to the sale of power to other countries in the current fiscal year.
In the last financial year, 20, 522 gigawatt hours of energy was generated from water, wind and solid waste, said Ashebr Balcha, the chief executive officer of EEP.
He mentioned that 20 billion birr has been generated from the energy supplied to the domestic and foreign markets, out of which 140 million US dollars have been obtained from the sale of energy supplied to the foreign market.
Ashebr pointed out that the benefits from the sector will boosted when the five large power generation projects under construction are completed.
