Education Minister Prof. Berhanu Nega appointed as Chancellor of Addis Ababa University

Addis Ababa, August 31, 2023 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) appointed Minister of Education Prof. Berhanu Negan as Chancellor of Addis Ababa University.

It is stated that the appointment came after the approval of a bill on Addis Ababa University as the first autonomous university.

In addition to the appointment of the chancellor, new board members have been named for the university.

According to the Ministry of Education, the board will continue to appoint presidents and vice-presidents who can lead the university responsibly.

It is to be remembered that the Council of Ministers of Ethiopia approved an autonomous establishment draft regulation of Addis Ababa University (AAU) during its 23rd regular meeting held on the 4th of August 2023.
