EDRMC transporting grain, nutritious foods to needy people in Tigray region
Addis Ababa, February 10, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission (EDRMC) announced that it has been transporting over 23,000 quintals of grain and nutritious foods for the needy in Tigray regional state.
EDRMC Logistics Management Director Tewodros Demissie stated that the grain and nutritious foods have been transported to the region from the Dire Dawa warehouse since Friday ENA reported.
In addition to the support being provided from various institutions in the region, the government has targeted 15 woredas that have not yet been addressed by the organizations.
Alongside the support of the federal government, efforts are being exerted to coordinate the diaspora and others entities so as to make the needy receive the necessary support, the director said.
According to him, the government is giving more attention than ever to sustainably rehabilitate sections of the society exposed to various challenges.
About 23,309 quintals of grain and nutritious foods are being transported to be distributed to the needy in the region, it was learned.
During the last six months, the government has distributed grain and nutritious foods to 8 million people in need of support across the country due to natural and man-made challenges.
