EAII signs tripartite MoU to expedite Ethiopia’s digital economy reform through AI tech
Addis Ababa, November 1, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute (EAII) signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding with two institutions to expedite Ethiopia’s digital economy reform through the contemporary artificial intelligence technology.
The Institute signed the document with Whale Cloud, a technology firm that is a partner of Alibaba Group, and Kehali Strategic Advisory Service, a local strategic consulting firm.
The agreement is said to be aimed at launching Alibaba’s e-commerce system in Ethiopia, which is known for providing the world’s largest internet shopping technology.
It was stated at the signing ceremony that EAII will provide the database and other secure infrastructure necessary to realize the technology.
The Director General of the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute, Worku Gachena, said that the agreement will accelerate the digital economic transition that Ethiopia has started by introducing the technology that the world is using to our country.
On his part, Yi Xie, Senior Sales Director of Whale Technology Group, Ethiopia, expressed that he is happy to be able to work together with the EAII in AI technology.
Ermias Amelga, Chief Executive Officer of Kehali Strategic Advisory Service, pointed out that it is possible to be internationally competitive in various spheres by benefiting from such technology sectors.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by various Ethiopian banks and senior leaders of the financial sector.
