EAF strikes a deal with Hungarian University of Sports Science
Addis Ababa, August 15, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Athletics Federation (EAF) today confirmed that it has signed a cooperation memorandum of understanding with the Hungarian University of Sports Science.
Ethiopian delegation led by the EAF President, Assistant Commissioner Derartu Tulu, is in Budapest to participate in the 54th World Athletics Congress.
The agreement was signed by EAF President Derartu Tulu and the President of the Hungarian University of Sports Science, Tamás Sterbenz (PhD).
It is noted that the agreement is said to bring training and formal education opportunities for Ethiopian Athletics Federation in the field of athletics sports development and management from short-term to post-graduate programs.
The Ethiopian Athletics Federation has announced that the Hungarian University of Sports Science will have the opportunity to gain Ethiopia’s experience in long distance running.
Budapest, the Capital of Hungary, is hosting the 2023 World Athletics Championship event, the nineteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships, from August 19 to 27, 2023. The championships will be held in the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, which was specially built for this event, and has a provisional capacity of 36,000.
Led by EAF President Derartu Tulu, also the first ever African woman to win an olymoiic gold medal, Ethiopian athletics team has travelled to Budapest ahead of its participation in the 19th edition of the world athletics championship. The national team is gearig up to surpass its previous record of 10 medals in the 2022 championship, held in Oregon, U.S.A.
