EACC commends Senator Inhofe’s for standing with Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, June 1, 2021 (FBC) – Ethiopian American Civic Council expressed deepest gratitude to Senator Jim Inhofe for opposing the heavy-handed Biden Administration’s visa restrictions on Ethiopia.

“As you have correctly reminded the world, Ethiopia has been a true ally of the United States in the fight against global terrorism, and many Ethiopians have paid the ultimate price in defending the US national security interest.”, the letter said.

Ethiopia has faced with internal terrorist attack led by TPLF, the Biden administration has chosen to abandon its reciprocal commitment in defending Ethiopia at the time of its needs. This action on Ethiopia will send a clear and chilling message to countries around the world who honored their commitment to the US, the council said.

“The Honorable Senator Inhofe, Ethiopia salutes you for your courageous stance to tell the truth to the world. Your historic speech echoes Emperor Haile Selassie call in 1936, reminding the League of Nation that 12 million Ethiopians were rendered without modern weapons to defend themselves by warning the world body “God and history will remember your judgment.”

Ethiopia a peaceful nation of 110 million people stands with you shoulder to shoulder in over- coming undue pressure by great powers interfering in its national sovereignty.

The council expressed hope that the administration will heed Jim Inhofe’s call to refrain from escalating the diplomatic posture that may threaten century long US bilateral relationship with Ethiopia, a consequential African nation.
