DPM & FM Demeke hails Peace Agreement as an ‘African Victory’
Addis Ababa, November 19, 2022 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, regarded the peace agreement reached between the Government of Ethiopia and the TPLF in Pretoria as an African victory that makes Ethiopia proud.
The Deputy Prime Minister briefed the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the current issues in Ethiopia.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the deal demonstrates the Ethiopian government’s determined desire for peace and dedication to putting the country back on track.
The agreement was also made with Ethiopia’s steadfast commitment to the dictum “African solution to African problems,” according to the minister.
“The agreement is an African victory that made Ethiopia proud and promised to bring lasting peace to the people,” he said.
He underscored that the results obtained are helpful for strengthening ties between Ethiopia and other countries.
The briefing was aimed at giving updates on the peace process, and the next steps in the implementation of the deal, as well as addressing questions raised by the participants, as per MFA Ethiopia.
