DPM & FM Demeke confers with his Somali counterpart
Addis Ababa, February 15, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, met today with Abshir Omar Jama, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia on the sidelines of the 36th African Union Summit.
During the deliberations, Demeke briefed FM Jama on current affairs and the need for further strengthening Ethiopia-Somalia relations in the areas of security, development, infrastructure and economic cooperation.
While underscoring the strategic significance of the Mogadishu Frontier States Summit, Demeke reassured Somalia’s Foreign Minister of Ethiopia’s keenness to implement decisions of the summit.
FM Jama lauded Ethiopia’s active role in the #Mogadishu Frontier States meeting. He said Somalia supports the Pretoria Peace Agreement & Ethiopia’s efforts to expedite its implementation further noting the need for the two countries to collaborate on fighting terrorism.
