DPM Demeke congratulates Ethiopians on 11th Anniversary of commencement of GERD

Addis Ababa, April 2, 20220 (FBC) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen, in his congratulatory message, said that Ethiopians commemorate the laying of the foundation stone for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project on this day in 2011. It was a historic day that reminded Ethiopians of their firm commitment to tame Abay.

“We have now started generating electricity, and many have paid sacrifices to achieve this end. All Ethiopians here and abroad, the government of Ethiopia, and the people who have been participating in the construction of the dam deserve heartfelt appreciation.”

“The GERD project is not a closed file. I call upon all Ethiopians to maintain and scale up their multifaceted support for finalizing it and meeting our final objective,” Demeke said

“Although multiple problems have continued to challenge our country, I believe they will always crumble away in the face of our solidarity and sense of brotherhood. I call on fellow Ethiopians to strengthen our unity and pass on a strong and prosperous Ethiopia to our children and the coming generations of Ethiopians.” He said.
