Djiboutian Delegation calls for regional integration for mutual benefit from tourism sector
Addis Ababa, February 16, 2021 (FBC) – The Ethio-Djibiouti Tourism Forum has concluded recently reaching an agreement to work in collaboration for mutual benefit from the sector.
Members of the Djiboutian Delegation who took part in the forum called for regional integration to utilize shared potentials for better mutual economic benefit.
In an exclusive interview with FBC, Djiboutian tour operators who participated in the forum said that it needs regional integration to promote and commercialize Ethiopian immense cultural and historical values.
Mohammed Gire Geleb, a tour operator in Djibouti, recalled collaboration between Tanzania and Kenya as a best experience, expressed need to forge similar partnership among Ethiopia and Djibouti.
“We can properly compete with other countries in the market if they join hands in fostering our tourist attraction sites and intangible resources with collaboration.” he said.
“Fostering Addis Ababa’s attractions helps integrate region towards common advantage for the city is diplomatic center of the continent”, he said.
Djiboutian tour operators and tourism professionals should take part in promoting Andinet, Sheger and Entoto Parks and other attraction of Addis Ababa, he underlined.
Djiboutian Tourism Minister, Mohammed Abduldadir Musa, said that there are Ethiopian investors engaged in hotel and hospitality in his country calling it an opportunity to scale up mutual efforts for better beneficiary from the sector.
Africans can ensure greter economic benefit if they work together in the tourism sector, added the Minister.
