Diaspora Raises 122mln Birr to GERD Just in 2 Months: Office

Addis Ababa, October 13, 2021 (FBC) – The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) construction national public coordination office says the Diaspora have contributed 122 million Birr to the dam in just two months: July & August.

Public Relations Director of the Office, Hailu Abraham, says the contribution of the Ethiopian diaspora to the construction of the dam is ever increasing, adding that they have raised over 1 billion Birr to date.

Diaspora Fekadu Terefe speaks about the conspiracy of external forces working to stifle Ethiopia from marching into development.

He thus urges Ethiopians to fight those evildoers and keeping their country progress into prosperity.

Another diaspora Etyopya Alemayhu has expressed the determination of the diaspora community to continue helping finalize the dam’s construction, and taking Ethiopia to the highest level of economic growth.

As ENA recalls in its report, the Ethiopian diaspora established a council in 2020 to facilitate their contributions in national image building, education and other development activities back here in their nation of origin.
