Derba MIDROC Cement signs $282mln contract agreement with Sinoma International Engineering
Addis Ababa, November 24, 2022 (FBC) – Derba MIDROC Cement has signed an agreement with the Chinese company Sinoma International Engineering Group to work together on the Durban Cement Factory expansion project.
Based on the demand for cement in the country, the agreement is said to be able to create the capacity to produce 80 thousand quintals of cement per day with a budget of 282 million USD.
It was also stated during the agreement that the factory was contributing to solving the cement demand of the country.
It is said that today’s expansion agreement will play a big role in solving the problems in the sector.
Minister of Mines, Takele Uma, who attended the signing ceremony, said that the local economic reform work is mainly focused on increasing the private sector.
He mentioned that the expansion step taken by Derba MIDROC Cement Factory is encouraging, affirming that the Ethiopian government and the Oromia regional government will also support in the expansion work.
It is said that the signed agreement will increase the daily production capacity of the factory to 150,000 quintals.
