UK-Africa Investment Summit opens in London
Addis Ababa, January 20, 2020 (FBC) –An Ethiopian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen is in London attending the UK-Africa Investment Summit.
Hosted by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, the Summit started this afternoon. Several African heads of state are also attending the high level event.
The Summit brings together businesses, governments and international institutions to showcase and promote the breadth and quality of investment opportunities across Africa.
The Summit will support job creation on the continent and Africa’s economic development and help build a strong partnership between the UK and African nations for mutual prosperity.
After attending the London Summit, the Ethiopian delegation will head to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) 50th annual meeting.
The Forum will be held from 21-24 January and brings together the world’s top leaders from politics, business, civil society, academia, media and the arts.
The 2020 event will convene nearly 3,000 participants from 117 countries, including 53 heads of state.
