Deputy PM Temesgen Tiruneh calls on armed groups to pursue peace
Addis Ababa, December 18, 2024 (FMC) – Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh has urged armed groups, encouraging them to choose the path of peace and recognize that extremism and conflict serve no one’s interests.
In a statement shared on his social media, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized, “The government’s door is always open for peace.” He highlighted the strong message emerging from communities throughout the Amhara Regional State, where residents rallied under the slogan “Peace to all; All for Peace,” showing their commitment for peace.
Temesgen expressed his gratitude for the public’s enthusiastic participation in the peace rally and called on all peace-loving citizens to support the government’s ongoing peace initiatives while condemning extremism.
He urged the armed factions to heed the call for peace, asserting that collective efforts are necessary to transform the Amhara region into a center of peace and development.
He reiterated the importance of an ongoing commitment to peace, stating, “Extremism and conflict will not benefit anyone.”
