Deputy PM says Ethiopia puts great emphasis on its endeavors to build digital economy
Addis Ababa, May 22, 2024 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh in tandem with other high level government officials has visited the STRIDE Ethiopia 2024 Expo which is taking place in Addis Ababa since 10 May 2024.
Stride Ethiopia 2024 Expo was officially launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) on 18 May 2024.
The annual Expo will run until May 26, 2024 with the motto “Science Unlocks, Technology Connects, Innovation Drives” at the Science Museum in the capital.
At the expo, public and private institutions as well as start-ups are showcasing their technological innovations.
In his presentation at a panel discussion held on the sideline of the Expo, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh that Ethiopia is working very hard to build a digital economy.
He noted that technology has an irreplaceable role in addressing malpractices in any government service, and has a paramount contribution to social engagement and job creation.
Temesgen noted that technology has a significant role in facilitating employment opportunities for job-seeking youths, calling the generation to tap the potentials in the sector.
Saying that technology is one of the five priorities of the government, Temesgen pointed out strengthened efforts to realize Digital Ethiopia 2025 demonstrate the great emphasis that has been given to the sector.
