Deputy PM launches annual volunteer service program

Addis Ababa, June 27, 2022 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen along with other high level government officials has launched the annual volunteer service program.

In his opening remarks, Demeke called on the youth community to leave behind a legacy through the already launched volunteer service program to take place till the end of the rainy season.

All rounded efforts of the government to defend national interests of the country from both internal and external forces must be supplemented by active participation of the youth in the volunteer service.

The federal government plans to involve 19 million youths in the program nationwide and benefit 40 million people from the initiative and save 11 billion birr worth resources.
