Deputy PM Demeke welcomes USAID’s decision to resume food assistance
Addis Ababa, November 15, 2023 (FBC) – The Deputy Prime Minister and Mi9nister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Mr. Demeke Mekonnen today welcomed the decision of the USAID (United States Agency for International Development) to resume food assistance in Ethiopia.
In a message published on his social media page, Mr Dmeke noted that the Ethiopian government has always been committed to ensure that humanitarian food assistance reaches only to those in need.
In the last five months, it has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to further enhance the aid delivery system by taking important reform measures in close coordination and cooperation with the USAID, as well other bilateral and multilateral partners, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored.
“With the robust system put in place jointly, it is imperative to expedite the food aid resumption process to reach to all those in need”, DPM & FM Demeke said.
USAID announced on Tuesday November 14 that it will resume food assistance in Ethiopia following implementation of comprehensive reforms.
