Deputy PM, Demeke meets with Special Representative of Russia for Middle East, Africa

Addis Ababa, February 6, 2022 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen met yesterday with the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, M. Bogdanov on the margins of the 35th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union which is taking place in Addis Ababa. 

In the course of the talks they discussed topical issues of further strengthening of multi-faceted Russian-Ethiopian cooperation with a focus on implementation in Ethiopia of joint promising projects in the fields of energy, infrastructure, agriculture, science and technology.

During the exchange of views on major international issues of common interest, the parties confirmed their willingness to enhance coordination in the United Nations and other multilateral organizations, including to find political and diplomatic ways to resolve crises and conflicts in Africa in accordance with the fundamental principles of international law and the provisions of the UN Charter.

They also considered issues related to the preparation of the second Russia-Africa Summit in 2022.
