Deputy Mayor Takelle, Renowned Athletes, Footballers plant trees in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, June 17, 2020 (FBC) – Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, Engineer Takelle Umma along with the sports community has planted hundreds of tree seedlings in the capital today.
Renowned athletes like Genezebe Dibaba, Footballers from both sexes, and supports of various footballs, supporting the greening mission of the capital, have planted indigenous trees in a sports center at Bole Sub City.
The planting movement is aimed to synthesize awareness among the community towards planting and nurturing of trees in conformity with COVID 19 preventive measures, the Deputy Mayor said.
Almost of the entire trees being planted in Addis Ababa are of fruits and vegitable seedlings that add impetus to the efforts underway to ensure food security besides making the metropolis green and beautiful, Takelle noted on the occasion.
Addis Ababa is set to plant 7 Million trees till the end of the already started national planting campaign.
