Demands can be addressed by giving priority to peace, not to conflict: Amhara Deputy Chief Admin

Addis Ababa, August 16, 2023 (FBC) – Any demand can be addressed by giving priority to peace not to conflict and havoc, the Administrative Affairs Cluster Coordinator with the Rank of Deputy Chief Administrator of Amhara Region, Sema Tiruneh said.

Briefing journalists on the security situation in the region, Sema Tiruneh said organized armed robber groups have tried to make the region a center of crisis. “This has not only caused human and material losses, but also disrupted normal activities and resulted in economic damage in the region,” he added.

“Starting a war at a time when farmers are carrying out agricultural works exposes the anti-people nature of the organized criminal group,” the coordinator said, adding that “the group not only obstructed the supply of selected seeds and fertilizers to farmers but also looted the inputs,”

ENA quoted Sema as saying “There are elements which try to defame the Defense Force that is safeguarding the country’s sovereignty. However, the defense force has proved that they are protectors of the people by creating peace and stability in the region,”

The coordinator thanked the people of the region for the work they are doing to bring lasting peace and stability in collaboration with the defense force, and further called on the residents of the region to strengthen their cooperation to sustain peace, according to ENA.

He explained that the aim of the armed group is to create crisis and trouble in the region and harm the people of the region.

Sema finally urged residents of the region who stood alongside the defense force to strengthen their cooperation and hold criminals accountable.
