Addis Ababa, January 26, 2022 (FBC) – In an exclusive interview with FBC, Spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dina Mufti stated that the decision made by Africans to hold the 35th AU Summit in Addis Ababa has abashed forces that were tarnishing Ethiopia’s image.
He said that there were many challenges that had been overcome to reach a decision to hold the AU Summit in Addis Ababa.
According to the Spokesperson, the Summit will cover various continental issues ranging from peace and security matters to implementation of agenda 2063.
Spokesperson added the Summit is to be held in person for the first time over the last few years amid Coronavirus pandemic.
Ambassador Dina indicated that apart from the pandemic there were invisible hands of some forces that were disgruntled by the law enforcement operation held in northern parts of the country behind the perpetration to disrupt holding of the Summit in Addis Ababa.
African brothers and sisters who clearly understand what is going on the ground have shown their strong solidarity to Ethiopians in deciding to hold the Summit in Addis Ababa, Ambassador Dina added. “This is a great victory for Ethiopians,” Spokesperson said.
