Addis Ababa, November 14, 2024 (FBC) – The political and diplomatic hub of Africa, is steadily modernizing its infrastructure and layout, Denmark’s Ambassador Designate to Ethiopia Sune Krogstrup said.
Ambassador Designate Sune Krogstrup told ENA that Ethiopia is growing in many fronts and the continental capital is witnessing a change that befits its name.
Stating that he was glad to come back to Ethiopia, the Ambassador emphasized “It is a country that is very close to my heart and the same goes for my family and we consider a home for us.”
“For Addis Ababa, a lot has changed. Also we are seeing a modernization of the infrastructure, of the layout of the city. It is very interesting to see that change is completely implemented this fast. And coming back here is also a reminder of how fast this country is growing in terms of its population, how fast Addis Ababa is growing, and the pressure that creates on a big city. So it’s a number of challenges as well as opportunities,” he elaborated.
The primary objective of the corridor development project is to enhance the beauty and cleanliness of the capital, making it a comfortable and attractive place for its residents, while maintaining its status as an international diplomatic hub.
“Addis Ababa is really the political capital of this continent. And you can see it when you move around. Almost all countries have an embassy here in Addis Ababa and that underlines the importance of this place. So it is indeed a hub compared to; you could easily compare yourself to New York, Geneva, Nairobi, and elsewhere,” Ambassador Krogstrup stressed.
The success of the corridor development project is a testament to the importance of concerted efforts and synergy in driving change and fostering a strong work culture of the city administration and its residents.
“As a foreigner, as a diplomat, I am very pleased to be greeted always with professionalism and sincere intention of improving the conditions for foreigners and for foreign embassies, for foreign diplomatic presences here. We have a very good cooperation with the authorities here,” the Ambassador stated his testimony.
Addis Ababa is home to over 100 embassies and various international and continental organizations including the Africa Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
With a visionary zeal, Addis Ababa city introduced the corridor development project few months ago to revitalize key routes and enhance connectivity across the designated corridors.
