Customs Commission collects over 112 billion birr revenue during last fiscal year
Addis Ababa: August 9, 2014 (FBC) The Ethiopian Customs Commission announced that it has collected 112.5 Billion Birr revenue in the just concluded 2020/2021 budget year.
The commission planned to collect 125.5 Billion Birr as it has managed to amass 112.5 Billion Birr and achieved 89.58 percent of the target.
The revenue has increased by 7.12 percent compared to the same period of the previous budget year, Commissioner Debele Kebeta said.
During the last fiscal year, more than 3 Billion USD was earned from the export of coffee, flowers, khat and other exports.
Activities including implementation of revised laws, regulations, various reform tools and technology backed practices have contributed to the success of revenue collection despite a number of challenges the country encountered, according to the commissioner.
Based on law enforcement measures, the commission has managed to save 37 billion Birr through contraband control activities during the budget year, the commissioner added.
