Cross border truck drivers, helpers to get COVID 19 life insurance coverage

Addis Ababa, December 11, 2020 (FBC) – Ministry of Transport announced that cross border heavy truck drivers and helpers will be provided with life insurance coverage over COVID 19 pandemic.

Ministry discussed and reached agreement with various stakeholders on how to implement the life insurance scheme as per premium agreement between owners and insurance companies.

Families of drivers are said to be paid 250, 000 Birr while families of helpers will get 150,000 Birr payout based on COVID 19 death certificates, according to Ministry of Transport.
