Consultative meeting discusses telecom market reform
Addis Ababa, October 1, 2020 (FBC) –A consultative meeting intended to gather input for telecom sector market reform activities took place in Addis Ababa today.
The meeting at Sheraton Addis hotel brought together about 210 Information Technology and Start-up companies operating in the capital city.
Those companies who operate outside Addis Ababa can put forward their recommendations by sending an SMS to 6500, which lasts until next Monday.
During the discussion, the participants recommended works that should be done as part of the reform activities to address problems related to infrastructure and Internet outage.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ethiopia Telecom, Frehiwot Tamiru, on the occasion reflected her view on the comments and questions raised by the participants.
Indicating that telecom service is not a luxury but a necessity, she said “we will work to make our companies competitive both at home and globally.”
