Concerted efforts, support from int’l community pivotal to ensure quality education: MoPD State Minister
Addis Ababa, April 12, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian delegation is participating in UN’s 56th regular Session of the Commission on Population and Development in New York.
The delegation is headed by Sandokan Debebe, Minister of State at the Ministry of Planning and Development.
At the session, the State Minister reminded that Ethiopia is the second most populous country in Africa, indicating the young people make up the largest population.
He elucidated that the Ethiopian government is making efforts to utilize national population growth for sustainable economic growth by expanding access to education in the country.
Besides, he noted encouraging results have been registered in Ethiopia through efforts on the population as a source of growth and the birth rate based on reproductive education and awareness.
The Minister of State pointed out that the implementation of sustainable development goals is being undertaken on a strong basis by making extensive investments in the education and health sectors.
Sandokan underlined that supports and concerted efforts from the international community are crucial to ensure quality education.
The session (CPD56) is being held from April 10 to 14 with a special theme: “People, Education and Sustainable Development”, in UN Headquarter, New York.
