Completion of operation in Tigray puts Ethiopia on right path to democratic system: Amb
Addis Ababa, December 4, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopian Ambassador to Egypt Markos Tekle briefed non-resident ambassadors covering Ethiopia from Cairo about the situation in Ethiopia.
The embassy yesterday hosted a webinar to brief non-resident ambassadors accredited to Ethiopia on the law enforcement operation in Tigray region.
He discussed the developments that necessitated the law enforcement operation, and updated the ambassadors on the post operation efforts the federal government is undertaking to restore law and order in Tigray region.
In addition, ambassador Markos explained the actions the government is undertaking to enable unhindered humanitarian access to the affected areas in the region.
The ambassador emphasized Ethiopia’s commitment to expedite the process to build a just and more inclusive system.
Furthermore, ambassador Markos explained how the successful completion of the law enforcement operation will put the country on the right path to achieve the objectives of building a democratic system.
In relation to the GERD talks, he expressed Ethiopia’s continued readiness to address the differences through dialogue and shared his optimism that the AU sponsored trilateral talks would resume soon.
The participants expressed their appreciation for the timely briefing organized by the Embassy.
Ambassadors and senior officials from the embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Ecuador, Estonia, Latvia, Malta, Myanmar, Nepal, Panama and Philippines attended the briefing session.
