Community consultation forums continue in several towns of Tigray region
Addis Ababa, December 27, 2022 (FBC) – Community consultations have continued in several parts of the Tigray region focused on latest developments related the implementation of the peace agreement.
The forums are taking place in Axum and Adwa towns where residents are deliberating on major achievements gained after the Pretoria Peace Agreement and some limitations seen in the process.
Residents exchanged views on peace and security, humanitarian aid delivery and reconstruction and restoration activities and efforts underway to restore public services across the region.
Forums are also exploring ways how to turn the accord into lasting peace in the country.
Participants said that the conflict has wreaked havocs on the region and the northern part of Ethiopia at large, calling for continued commitment from all parties to ensure sustainable peace and security.
The peace agreement is promising in bringing the whole region to normalcy and bolstering development in the area, they said, calling for continued measures to maintain the achievements.
Robberies carried on infrastructural facilities caused disruptions in service delivery in some parts of the region, the resident said, calling for corrective measures on the infringements.
They further demanded that the humanitarian aid delivery be ramped up and local administrative bodies established, reiterating commitment to peace.
