Commission to kickstart nat’l dialogue next week
Addis Ababa, May 26, 2024 (FBC) – The regional states and city administrations will begin to conduct their chapters of the national dialogue sessions starting May 29, 2024, Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission disclosed.
The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission was established to effectively resolve basic differences on national issues among those who pursue various political and ideological positions through inclusive national dialogue.
Ever since its establishment, the Commission has been conducting various initial activities including the completion of identification of participants in ten regional states and two city administrations in free and impartial manner, it was learned.
One of the Commissioners at the National Dialogue Commission, Ambaye Ogato stated that dialogue sessions will kick start at regional states and city administrations beginning May 29, 2024.
The Commissioner added that all the necessary preparations have been made to start the process in which all stakeholders are expected to contribute their parts.
He stated that three main tasks will be accomplished on this part of the dialogue that will start on May 29, adding that stakeholders from various regions and those elected from various woreda will discuss on the agenda items to be set before them.
This will prove that Ethiopia has the capacity to resolve all her challenges through constructive and inclusive dialogues, the commissioner elaborated.
This is a stage in which the participants will jointly select agenda items pertinent for discussion and also facilitate the atmosphere in which they could also be able settle simpler issues that they could resolve in their capacity, he added.
On the other hand, this is also a stage in which representatives from respective localities will be elected to join other participants from regions and other stakeholders for a dialogue to be conducted at national level, the Commissioner further remarked via ENA.
Ethiopia has established a National Dialogue Commission which could play a greater role to rectify and resolve age old problems the country has been facing and to transfer a peaceful and livable country to the future generation of Ethiopians.
