Commission seizes contraband items worth 3.6bln birr in the 1st quarter of FY

Addis Ababa, November 16, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Customs Commission seized contraband items and illegal currencies amounted to 3.6 billion birr during the first quarter of the Ethiopian Fiscal year.

The Commission said it along with police made 258 individuals involved in the contraband activity under custody.

Among the major contraband items seized while being smuggled during the past quarter of the Ethiopian budget year were drugs, agricultural products, electronic devices and used clothes, according to the commission.
