Commission concludes round table consultation on DDR with regional gov’ts

Addis Ababa, April 22, 2023 (FBC) – The National Rehabilitation Commission (NRC) of Ethiopia has conducted its last round table consultations on Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) of ex-combatants in Hawassa city with regional administrators and stakeholders.

The latest meeting on DDR brought together the chief administrators of Southern, Southwest, and Gambella regions as well as representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The discussion was chaired by the Commissioner of NRC, Teshome Toga, it is indicated.

All the leadership of the three regional administrators and stakeholders expressed strong commitment and support to the implementation of disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration of ex-combatants.

It is to be recalled that the Commission has recently announced plans for nationwide registration and reintegration of ex-combatants into a center will commence in the coming June.
